Meet Ian Crafton

My name is Ian Crafton and I am running for a seat on the Wasilla City Council. My parents brought me to Alaska 20 years ago and I have been a resident of Wasilla for 15 of those years.

I grew up going to Wasilla Middle and High School. My grandmother was the secretary for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church so I spent a lot of time volunteering there and at the food bank. If I wasn’t there, my friends and I were riding our bikes to the park or playing little league baseball. Currently, I am a Real Estate Professional for the Ben Kinney Team with Keller Williams Realty. My lovely wife, Calliann and I have a beautiful, baby girl Caiya who recently turned one. I am running for City Council because I want to help further the development of Wasilla.

The City of Wasilla is small in size, but it influences the greater Wasilla area. I have 3 major goals. The first is to further the activities available to young children and adults. My second goal is to improve our roads systems through paving and expansion so that they are safer. My third goal is to encourage business development.

I currently serve on the City of Wasilla Planning Commission as Vice Chair. Some of my accomplishments are the review and updating of the Landscape Development Code, Hazard Mitigation Plan, and Comprehensive Development Plan.
